Hire a Car in Spain

Hiring a car whilst you are on holiday abroad allows you much greater freedom,
especially if you like to get out and see the local areas. In some countries
renting a car is not advisable due to driving conditions, but Spain is not one
of these and the increased independence of having your own transport should not
be underestimated

When hiring a car abroad it is important to familiarise yourself with the
relevant rules of the road as they can vary greatly from the UK. Many countries
including Spain drive on the right hand side of the road rather than the left
and this can be disorientating if you have only driven in the UK before,
especially at roundabouts and junctions. In Spain breaking what may seem like a
minor rule to you can result in a large on the spot fine. Never speed and don`t
talk on a mobile phone, even with an ear piece or if you are pulled over at the
side of the road. Drinking and driving can result in a jail sentence if you are
caught, the legal limit is 0.25 mg but if you are unsure it is best not to drink
at all. All passengers must wear seat belts and children under the age of 12 are
not allowed to sit in the front seat without an extra car seat.

As long as you are sensible and pay attention to the road signs, a phrase book
or a bit of internet research before you go can help with this, you will have an
enjoyable experience. Spanish roads are generally well maintained and not too
busy out of the main cities. A car with a decent sized boot makes shopping for
supplies if you are self-catering, or going to the beach with lilos and
umbrellas much easier and you know your lift home is always on standby without
the hassle of searching for a taxi or waiting for the bus.

Most countries have plenty of good hire companies and for href="http://www.compare-car-rentals.co.uk/travelguides/compare-cheap-car-hire-spain-with-compare-car-rentals.html">car
rental Spain
is one of the best. Booking in advance is advisable, getting to
the airport and finding you have no onward transport is not the best start to
you holiday and you can get many good deals online.
